What I Learned at the at the 2 Day Assembly...

1- "jehovah does not want us to be rich".

other religions teach that god helps us to become prosperous.

jehovah does not do that.

It just hit me, the witlesses have maintained that they never said that the end was comming in 1975 and in their literature while it's alluded to it isn't said outright, but though not a witness at the time, I'm sure they used talks like these to teach that doctrine. That way they could have there cake and eat it too. Teach the doctrine and when it doesn't happen deny ever teaching it and point to the literature.

In the future they will say that they never condemed college and point to the literature and say that they were just warning those of the dangers.

Do you have a hope for the future???

just wondering, all who have left, are leaving, or are still 'in' and no longer believe.. jw's have the hope of living forever...paradise...etc.. what is your hope for the future?.

do you still think there is the chance of living forever...paradise...etc..

I guess what we are really saying is that we just don't know what the future brings but we hold out hope, and I think that's true of all of us. No matter what we profess to "believe", we are really just holding out hope.

How long will you post?

i've just noticed that some here have been posting for years, thousands of posts, some average 2, 5, even up to 10 posts per day, every day for years.

i am relatively new to the site, just wondering, what keeps those long time posters comming back?

i can actually see in my own case a time when my interest will wane.

my reaction: shock and awe (tm).

i was an elder and had just left bethel.

i didn't want to believe what i was reading especially from current and former elders.

I remember when I first started reading the posts that most people writing them seemed to have an axe to grind with the organization and I was very skepticle of what I was reading, apostates i thought. But I kept reading, and every now and then some statement made could be verified using either the orgs. own literature or just common sense. Then I came across the UN thing and WOW that did it for me. No turning back, no maybe its the Truth, it was over for me at the moment I verified that it was indeed true.

Convince me to move to your State (U.S. Only)

my husband and i are throwing around the idea of moving to a different state.

nothing is set in stone yet, but some changes in his career may allow for us to move wherever we like in the u.s. i love washington state, but i would like to move somewhere a little warmer.

i've lived in washington all my life and i need a little help in learning about the rest of the u.s.. so convince me to move to your state.

I've been living in North Carolina for a while now... can't imagine ever leaving... climate is mild... not much rain and even less snow... I especially love the seasons. it's spectacular here. Go west and you're in the Smokey Mountains go right and you're at the beach (Atlantic Ocean). If your husband plays golf this is paradise. More golf courses here then anywhere.
